Hot Fudge Sauce

Hot Fudge Sauce

What is better than decedent hot fudge sauce melting over your ice cream? Homemade hot fudge sauce, that what!!! This is easy to make and stores well in a pint size mason jar. A fun dessert to make when served with ice cream and homemade Fudge Brownies! My husband added a layer of peanut butter and it was a hit! Hot fudge sauce is also fun and delicious as a fondue. Serve hot with marshmallows, graham crackers, fresh fruit and sponge cake!

Hot Fudge Sauce

1 1/2 cups granulated white sugar

1 cup unsweetened cocoa

1 cup heavy cream, half & half, whole milk or low-fat milk

1/2 cup butter (1 cube of butter)

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions:

Add sugar and cocoa to a sauce pan and place on high heat (I cook everything on high heat but if your more comfortable at lower temperatures you can do it on medium high heat) Stir these dry ingredients together until incorporated then add milk and stir until incorporated again. Bring to a boil and add the butter. You can lower the heat until it is at a low boil and continue to cook while stirring occasionally for 5 minutes. Add the salt and vanilla and use or store in a glass mason jar.
